Quilting, Shopping and MYSTERY DOLL MAKE OVER!

Hi everybody!

I have been all over the place concerning my hobbies.  While looking for something for one project I found something I was working on a few months ago. This is my first attempt at making a quilt. The pieces came from a bunch of small precut squares for a 1:1 quilt. I know now I need to be careful about the prints and line them up better. I was mostly concentrating on making the seams and the squares even. It does not have backing or fill because it was pretty much for practice. Next I will learn about patterns. This is in 1:12 by the way.

Here is something I have never seen before. It was in Walmart for only $5.00. You of course understand I HAD to get it. I plan to paint it. Probably yellow.  I didn't see the house just furniture for the rooms.  Sorry, it is so dark!I really need to go back and finish that light box!

Apologizing once again for the dark pictures. This was the fourth take. Clicking on them will make them a little clearer.

Mystery Doll make over!

Here she is! I looked into my bag of wigs you may remember from a previous post.  I first tried a black wig, but thought it made her too old. I wanted her to be a sweet little girl. I also have a little information about her. DC 1997 21060 is stamped on the back of  her neck. I could not find the company online. So, I don't know what DC stands for.

I chose a wig I thought went well with her complexion and eye color. It was straight and best suited for a woman until I curled it with the boiling water method. For some reason the pictures don't do her justice of her in  the Auburn hair. She also got some brighter lipstick and a little acrylic rouge on her checks to look more cheery.

I tried this wig first. I thought it made her too mature looking. I wanted her to look like a sweet young girl after all she had been through. I do like it though.

I got an idea for this dress and made it in one sitting.  The plant next to where her right hand is pointing is exactly where she was buried.

I also made her sandals and bows.

I handled her so much I began to muss her hair. It can be touched up again. If it will not stay put I might just switch it back to the black wig. Which do you like best?

There is still one mystery...most people suggested her eyes and mouth were swollen from either being buried or in the rain.  However, her body didn't seem to be swollen at all and they are made of the same materials...

Doll Mystery Continued... WARNING!! Not For The Faint Of Heart!

So sorry I have not been sharing my mini stuff with you lately. So much has been going on in the RL...nothing bad thank God! Still I have been doing a little mini-ing here and there and planned to do a good post next week and then this happened today!

Some of you may remember this doll that was found buried in my backyard. The last month has been extremely busy for me so I didn’t bother with her anymore. I2 Create’s and Georgia Girl’s remarks made me think maybe I should clean her up, dress her, maybe give her a little hair, lots of love and see what she looked like. In the meantime she has been on the ground where she was rained on (thought it would help clean her), and had plenty of sun.

Last night I happened to run across a wig that looked like it would fit her so I thought I would give her some attention and fix her up today. This is how she looked this morning. Her eyes are completely changed and her face looks very different. Doesn’t her mouth look way less pouty? Do you think the elements, first being buried in dirt then the weather changed her looks?

Yep, she is the same doll!

Exactly what do you think is going on here?
Could someone be playing a joke on me?

By the way, I am a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ and I fear no evil which is why I have not gotten spooked by her. No weapon formed against me can prosper.(Isa 54:17) However, I do think this is extremely odd.

Yet, I still feel I should not throw her in the garbage and I don’t want to thrift her for someone else to buy her not knowing this strangeness about her.

How did her lips become so red?

THE SHOW IS ON!

A few posts ago I mentioned I was busy making clothes for my 1:12 doll stories. Then I read a reply by Zdollcloset using the words "fashion show!" Show?! I scurried around grabbing fabric Scarlet O'hara style in reverse and made some curtains.

The styrofoam was in my view. Quick get the wallpaper book out and see if you have anything to match the curtains and the animal print "carpet". Ahhhh just right. I glued it on the runway, next put palm tree candle holders in place and went to get the models.

Well, remember I made you promise not to laugh. Here is my fashion show with a few of the outfits I made.

Just imagine some loud techno music and off we go....

A lovely yellow and khaki outfit to wear shopping on a saturday afternoon

Our lady wears a cool purple and green cotton suit perfect for this heatwave.

This two piece suit is perfect for meetings at the office.

Without the jacket she is ready to go dancing!

I didn't make the blouse, but made then added the burgundy velvet pencil skirt for a professional look.

This is a genuine leather jacket I made some time ago. It goes well with the gold trimmed knit dress underneath. If you look closely you can see the gold button accent on the jacket.
Now she is ready to attend that semi-formal evening wedding after work!

I'm so sorry, he felt there should be male representation with all of the lovely ladies. He grabbed his vest before it was  finished! I think someone told him his bow legs were sexy or something.

And what fashion show would be complete without a bride?

Wait...hol'....somebody help the bride!!!!

And uh that concludes our fashion show!
(somebody untangle the bride please!)
