WOOD YOU EVER GUESS?

Hi everybody,

Check out my latest grab. Found this on Facebook market! You would never guess...it's a wooden replica of a BARBIE A FRAME! Separated in the three pieces,  yellow and huge it wasn't recognizable at first. I am going to be really busy refurbishing this one! SCORE!

Original circa 1978-79

A Wedding Dress, Something old and Something New

A Wedding Dress

As promised, here is the lovely gown I won from Felma in three different locations . The Bridal shop is finished for the most part. Save for replacing a couple of glass shelves that fell off the walls. I was concerned it might throw off the colors since I used the all white gowns I made some time ago for the rack.

Now I see the picture frames go nicely with it and I will replace a couple of white gowns for other shades of white or maybe even a bright color or black.  I thought the gown looked nice in the boutique also. Fashion wise, my daughter and I went back and forth until she decided maybe a pretty gown could fit into a store targeting younger women and I agreed.

The seamstress' work room looks a little contrived because it has been going back and forth between being a bathroom and a sewing room. It once was looking pretty nice with all of the Victorian posters etc on the walls as a sewing room. For some reason I want to have a bathroom in every house. For this house it would really do better as a sewing room, but then where would they do all of their...well you know...

(Click on pics so they will be a little more visible)
I chose the bridal shop
It looks a lot better up close

It didn't look too bad here because it was center stage like it was being highlighted.

I also like it here. If I had the room fixed up again with sewing notions, fabric and posters as well as other completed or clothes in progress projects it would really make a statement.

What do you think?
Thanks again Felma!

Something Old?

One of the things keeping me from minis these days is gardening. The season was pushed back a little because of the cold weather, so we must hurry to prepare the ground for my seedlings.

My grands and I were preparing the garden when my granddaughter started yelling! She came across this while she was doing some digging! It was in a shallow grave in a spot I thought I had dug at least once before. She and my grandson are convinced she is a voodoo doll someone buried there. I have no memory of having this doll although that does not mean I didn't at some time.  Anywho here she is. No hair. No clothes. No identity. We don't know where she came from.

Now, the question is do I clean her up and give her a make over or give her a tour of the bottom of a landfill ("garbage" for my international followers)

Kind of  Creature From The  Black Lagoon-ish

Her smile is sweet, but her eyes are downright scary!

New High Tech Barbie- Good or Bad?

Here is an doll that just doesn't seem right. I like that this one has an average physique. I just don't think anything should be going over the internet by little children. There is always the chance the child can send something unsupervised. Anyway, who wants their child monitored by a stranger?

Moving Forward For More Fun in 2015!

Well, 2014 ended with a lot of difficulties. But, that is ok. There is always tomorrow I say. . I am going forward in a lot of areas besides miniatures and if you hold, on tightly I will take you with me! :-D Weee! lol I want you to have even more fun here with, me, The Grandmommy, this year and ever after!

I like this song and have decided it is going to be my theme song for 2015

I think I figured out who gets what and sent the gifts for all of the winners who sent their addresses. If I have left you out please let me know. It is never too late to get a treat in the mail! I should know this first hand...

Look at what Brini sent me!

Right smack in the middle of the year end drama...I get this box! In it was the cool chair with matching pillows, mirror and picture frame that I won on Brini's Doll Domain blog and oh, what is that? A gift card for Macy's department store. I was NOT expecting that! Nothing like a little retail therapy I always say!

I sat down with a cup of coffee on a quiet morning and opened the box! Then, I actually sat there playing with everything! I rearranged the pillows over and over and sat different dolls in the chair. LOL I have decided to make a roombox for them instead of putting them in one of the Barbie houses. I can't say thanks enough! She is such a generous sweetie, folks!

I am inspired by the beginning of the year craft room organization of a few of my blogger friends. michellesmadworld @ http://wwwmichellesmadworld.blogspot.com/2015/01/2015-year-that-wasto-finish-what-ive.html     http://stalbertmini.blogspot.com/2015/01/off-to-good-start.html  and Brae at Otterine's Miniatures. As such, I have begun organizing and most importantly for me...labeling. In doing so, you know I found a lot of good craft-y stuff.

Some were very well organized, but since they were not labeled I didn't know where they were and what I even had in there! I am looking at these soap and candle making supplies really hard! I pulled them from one of those unlabeled, yet organized rolling drawers and spread it all out. Today is the day. I am going to attempt to make some really cool soaps 1:1 scale.  Once I get comfortable with that I want to make some 1:12 scale.

Hope I don't chicken out!

Hugs!
The Grandmommy

SLJ Info

Ok everybody! Thanks to Sarah of Amber's house I was able to get things back into English! The weird part is when I tried to use a translator it identified the other language as English! Glad that is over with. Thanks again Sarah!

Several people commented on Samuel L Jackson's mold. He is a Star Wars character Samuel plays named Mace Windu I got new from a thrift shop a few years ago in a damaged package. He is one of my favorites. I just took him out of the box and put him on display. Today I counted 9 points of articulation including waist and neck ( or would that be 16 counting both sides?)  It seems he may have had his sabre. I can't remember.

Ok, here is the weird part. The stamp on his back says Hasbro 1993. He didn't star in the Star Wars prequels until 1999!

TJ X 4= 1

Since I cleared out the  Barbie area, I started digging out my Barbie stuff.  When I looked at these four guys,  all are the SAME TJ,  from the Kenya doll collection I knew I wanted to put them in a house or diorama, but who wants to have four of the same dolls?

I  actually went a little crazy when I bought them almost for free at Wal-Mart and set them aside a couple of months ago, then ordered some flocking from online. When the flocking finally arrived from china I could not wait to try it on them. I wondered how different from each other I could make them look.

I am satisfied with how they turned out. Each one now has his own look and personality.  Here are two that had hair make-overs and one original. I was so busy buying them I didn't realize there were four different outfits which furthered their individuality. I still have a couple more and have not decided what to do with them and one more has a different outfit. I held up some grey hair, but it didn't look quite right.

I am actually outside at night taking these pictures. I have decided this Barbie Dreamhouse will be a venue of some sort. Just seems parties should be held here.

He was actually the last to get a do over. For some reason there is something dusty by his mustache. He must have been eating something lol. I think he looks similar to singer Stevie Wonder.

Here he is with hair compared to the original bald look. I think hair makes him look younger. SAME DOLL!

I was hoping I could get him to have an afro like this guy
It was tricky and there are a few naturally thin spots, but I think I will still fill them in. Basically I am pleased.
Don't they all look different now?!

WHO IS WHO?
A few posts ago D7ana talked about LGBT in fashion dolls on her blog. A few days before her post I had taken this photo because my Samuel L Jackson Star Wars doll was in this position. Um, I think we can assume he is heterosexual!

None of my ladies seem to be able to escape his charm!

So, this is what they do when I am not looking!
The weird part is a Samuel L Jackson commercial came on while I was doing this post. LOL

You can never know what I am going to blog about next. I am currently working between two scales and still organizing in 1:1 scale. LOL

For My Barbie-Lover Friends (sorry about three blank posts!)

I happen to run across an article about Barbie recently. She is one controversial gal who has gone through many changes over the years.

For some reason Barbie sales are down 13%! The adult market is unaccounted for. The article refers to parent consumers. Perhaps sales would increase if they made some of the changes adult collectors suggest!

After listening to the song in the first commercial, I can understand why some shoppers would be concerned about the image that is portrayed for little girls... "really me? Petite?" Maybe, just maybe they should market to big girls and big boys a little harder! :-)

Read further about Barbie's future with Sports Illustrated and a lot about her past and let me know what you think? Just what is your opinion on these Barbie topics?

Let's start with her first commercial shown during the Mickey Mouse Club in 1959.

The words in the commercial which talk
about her purpose was really thought provoking!

Barbie and Ken

This is a depiction of how she and Ken might look today if she aged like the rest of us.

Is the one on the right the way Barbie should really look? Would you buy her?

Through all of her controversy she remains "unapologetic"

Sweet Dreams...Clowns and Ponies

Here are a couple of rooms from the big house I bought a few months ago. I want the family to appear rather wealthy, because the house is so big. The wallpaper is actually 1:1 trim.

The boys' room belongs to a set of five-year old twin boys. I dug in my stash and came up with the circus theme. I have shelving and other things waiting to be added.

The girl's room belongs to their nine year old sister who loves My Little Pony. The little pony was also already in my stash! The My Little Pony theme seemed just right for the little girl in the family and a sleepover friend. I am still searching in my goodies for just the right carpeting and fabric for pillows. The comforters are a Barbie sized cut in two. As soon as I cut the wallpaper from around the windows and I find the right fabric, I will make the curtains. I am thinking of perhaps the pink I already have. It is cotton and I am not sure it will match up with the "satin" bedding.

Bedding and curtains are on the way!

Just as I was snapping this the picture moved. LOL

I couldn't believe the match to the wallpaper!

On the hunt for other matching mini My Little Pony stuff.

Big and little beauties

Here are two of my girls. One "big" one "little."  I own over 70 male and female fashion size dolls and at this point over 40, 1:12 scale dolls. Right now I am making wardrobes for the 1:12 because modern clothing for them is either hard to find or expensive.
Most of you already know the 1:12 doll is approximately half the size of her friend at 5 1/2". You might notice that her dress is the same size as Barbie's top. LOL
I plan to do the doll stories in 1:12 and I will tell you why once the show gets on the road.

Bet you didn't know that 1:12 scale dolls and 1:6 scale dolls got along so well!

The house was made by The Little Tikes Company

Does size really matter? No! All girls just want to have fun!
Oh yea, I made those quicky outfits.
